1938: birth of Gérard Di-Maccio
1964: Fine Arts School in Paris.
1973: Di Maccio studies anatomy, geometry,
all the techniques of drawing and painting and art history.
Gerard Di-Maccio began his professional career more
than thirty years ago, and was soon recognized as the initiator
and leading artist of the Visionary Movement. He remains the
foremost recognized artist of the Visionary Movement, and his known
throughout the world.
Di Maccio's work is an expression of his own imaginary world using
techniques similar to those employed by Italian Renaissance artists
such as Michelangelo and Raphael. The use of several layers of oil
paint creates a spectacular depth of color when light reflects upon
the canvas.Di Maccio has translated
this classic technique into a modern personal expression of his
artistic vision; his principal artistic guideline is a desire to
express a corroded future already past.
His paintings evoke a sense of weightlessness and suggest a third
dimension,
which allow the viewer to participate in his magical world and
fantastic
(with "beautiful nude" !).
Di Maccio is a perfectionist, he is searching for special colours and
forms,
varnish and patinas are polished...
He likes a painting to have certain patina, making the viewer want to
touch it.
An astonishing monumental painting (27 meters long and 9 meters high -
30 feet by 90 feet)
was commissioned by a japanese art collector: The largest
painting on canvas in the world !
A special museum
(greatest than the "Pyramide du Louvre" in Paris !)
in Osaka (Japan) is dedicated to Di Maccio.
